Big Love Main Cast ScreenshotEntertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello writes about upcoming television deaths on the big shows of the late winter and spring seasons for 2009. You can check out a tally of all the death’s by visiting his article here. Ausiello has confirmed rumors with the top executives for these television shows, so the number of deaths are all confirmed, but most shows won’t say who exactly is dying.

We decided to weigh in on this and give you our thoughts on who might end up dead. We’re only writing our predictions for the shows we know the most about and/or watch most frequently. You can check out the entire list for the number of deaths in shows we don’t watch like Law and Order: SVU and CSI: NY.

So, let’s get into things with Desperate Housewives. The deaths for the show have been confirmed as at least one. We have been told the one is Edie (Nicolette Sheridan). Sheridan is leaving the show, but the powers that be for DH have also said “at least” one, so our money is on an additional death (or 2) of less important characters. Our money is on Dave getting caught for what he’s done to Edie and Lynette popping him off (it’s always the one you least expect who commits murder). Divine justice and all right? Perhaps one of the kids will get the axe, too. Does Gaby really need her kids anyway?

Ugly Betty has one death confirmed that is set to occur at the end of the season. While the easy guess is Christina since actress Ashley Jensen is leaving the show, we have a feeling it might be the end for Papi (Tony Plana). As much as we love Tony Plana, it’s about time Ignacio let the girls find out what it’s like to handle life on their own.

The end of the season for 24 is bringing at least two confirmed deaths. This is 24, so plenty of minor characters are bound to die. There is no mention of whether the characters are major players or not. All we have to say is if they kill Tony Almeida again, we quit! On the other hand, we wouldn’t mind if Chloe got the axe, or the FBI girl that might just like Jack, Renee Walker. The only person we’re pretty sure won’t die is Jack and hopefully Kim, because it’s always fun to see Elisha Cuthbert make a cameo. We’re guessing at least Dubaku is going to die, though who the second death is, is anyone’s guess!

Heroes has confirmed three deaths will occur at the end of the season. Two of the deaths will stick, but one won’t. Ali Later’s character, Tracy, is going to die, because the girl has nine lives on this show. We’re sure Tracy’s death will stick, but Larter is sure to be back as another clone/character come Season Four. While many are calling for the death of Hiro, we’re not feeling his death. We’re betting Sylar’s finally going to get what’s coming to him, but it’s certain the death won’t stick. This is Sylar we’re talking about, after all. The final death we’re not sure of, but it’s not going to be Claire Bennett. That’d be show suicide, and Heroes couldn’t recover from that.

Big Love has just one episode left, this upcoming Sunday. One death has been confirmed to occur during the season finale. The death is going to be a major male character. Initial prospects for our death brought up Roman or Alby, but when it comes down to it, we’re pretty sure it is going to be Joey. Without Alby, who is going to delight us with his gay sex in the bathroom scenes and his obvious domination by his bitch of a wife? Without Roman, Alby is free to run the compound with no threat of takeover, so what’s the fun in that?

Frank isn’t back from Mexico, so we’re betting its not him and unless Ben gets in a car accident or is kidnapped by Hollis, we’re certain he’s safe. Without Bill, there wouldn’t be a show, so that only leaves Joey. Pissed off about Kathy’s death he goes after Hollis and Roman and gets caught in the crossfire. Besides, this will give Wanda the perfect motivation to go full scale nutso come next season.

Lost is recording at least two deaths, with one being a major character and one being a major-ish character come the end of the season. We’re certain Jack and Kate are going to live, but Sawyer or Juliet might just lose their life. Juliet is an interesting choice because that would free Sawyer up and create more tension between Kate and Jack, who obviously have a connection.

Others who might be on the list of the dead include Ben (he gets everyone to come back to the island, so there is no use for him), Hurley (we hate this idea, but he does have moments of mental instability – we assume he’d only die if Jorge Garcia wanted to leave the show) and Jin (he died once so two times’ the charm?).

It looks like death is going to be a big part of the end of the winter/spring run for these shows. Make sure to check out the EW site to see how many are going to die on all your favorite shows and make sure to leave a comment with your thoughts on who you think is going to die.
