iGo Everywhere

The idea behind the iGo Everywhere is simply genius! Who wouldn’t pay a little bit of money to have a retractable cord that will charge nearly all of their electronic devices from cell phones to digital cameras at home and in the car? I know I would pay a fair price if it were available. Well, it is available in the iGo Everywhere. This product is a lifesaver in the car if you don’t have a charge adapter and your cell phone is running low.

In the house, I am usually able to charge whatever I need to without a problem. However, in the car I don’t have a charger that works with my phone. I was looking forward to this because I don’t have a car charger. It doesn’t make matters any better that I am forgetful, so if I take it with me to charge when I’m traveling or at a friend’s house, I run the risk of losing or forgetting the charger altogether.

The iGo Everywhere is meant to fix all that. I would say that it is one of the most promising solutions to the charger situation. You know the one I’m talking about. You own a digital camera, a cell phone, an iPod, and some other electronic gadgets. You have cords and chargers for all of them. You might have them in a drawer so when something needs charged you can open the drawer filled with cords, weed out the one you need, and leave the others to sit there until next time. The whole idea is less than flattering. Cords can make a nice room look like a mess and they can be a hassle. However, the iGo Everywhere gives you a retractable cord and no fuss or muss as long as you have the tips to change when you need to charge different devices.

Positives & Negatives:

Positives:
No more lugging around multiple cords and adapters
No mess
Easy to use and take anywhere
Relatively inexpensive
Makes on the go life easier
Gives you another option when you can’t find your cord

Negatives:
No tips come with the charger
Charger tips more expensive
Need to purchase multiple charge units and tips if you want to charge multiple items concurrently

Pricing & Availability:
The charger unit is incredibly reasonable at around $20 at Amazon. I imagine some stores that sell electronics may have this though your best bet may be to wait the shipping time and to go with Amazon. This will allow you to save money. I have no problem with paying $20 for something that is going to make my life easier. However, when you purchase the iGo Everywhere you will also need the tips to put on the charger otherwise you will not be able to charge your electronics. Each tip ranges in price, anywhere from $5 to $12. They could be more, but the tips I saw were in that range.

You can also buy a different charger unit and tips to handle laptops and other electronics. When you factor in the price it all depends on how much you want to spend. If you’re looking to get rid of mess and want to avoid using your bulky chargers, this is a viable, relatively inexpensive way to do it.

Durability & Fashionability:
The iGo Everywhere includes a small pouch to fit your base charger and a couple of tips. If you’re using a lot of tips this isn’t going to work for you. However, I found that it fit snuggly with the one I had. The actual base unit of the charger is mainly silver. It’s small and unassuming. It won’t get in the way, so you don’t have to worry about one of those bulky black cords flying everywhere. It’s even retractable, which could make it the perfect accessory for the geek crowd that needs to charge their electronics on the go. I have to admit, after not having a charger in the car for my cell phone, it’s nice to not have to look at the bars and wonder how long it will last until I get home to recharge. Also, if you buy a new cell phone or replace your iPod with the latest version, all you have to do is buy a new tip for each new electronic item, as opposed to using an entirely new charger for each of them.

Overall Appeal:
The iGo Everywhere is just what the person on the go needs. This solution allows you to power up a number of your most important electronics at home, in the car, or on the go. It’s cheap, trendy, and won’t leave a long cord lying around waiting to be used. The only major downside is the semi-expensive nature of some of the tips. This won’t affect everyone though and will depend on the devices that you plan to use with the iGo Everywhere.

Some people will be able to buy a number of tips for under $20 and others will only get two or three. Still, if you need that perfect solution to make your life easier in this area, this is the one thing that will get the job done. This would make a perfect Christmas gift for the geek in your life. Just make sure you know, which tips they will need!
