Finally, our Gift Guide is complete with the Top Five Blockbusters:
#21 – The Dark Knight
| Hands down, the best film of 2008, if you don’t buy this movie, we don’t know if you’re worthy of being called a movie lover. The tight script, non-stop action and excellent performances, especially by the late Heath Ledger (he’ll be robbed if he doesn’t get an Oscar for his performance as the Joker), this movie has all the elements that make a superior film. Add in the fact that this movie is about Batman and the chills that roll down your spine throughout this entire movie are well worth the euphoria you’ll feel after watching the most stunning film of its time. You can pre-order the special edition of this film for $20.99. |

#22 – Hancock
This surprise Hollywood Blockbuster stars Will Smith, Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron. Smith is, what else, an intoxicated superhero, who does more harm than good. Well, at least when it comes to property damage. After saving the character portrayed by Bateman, an executive who is wanting to turn around Hancock’s image and make it clear that he’s needed in Los Angeles, the image of Hancock becomes positive. Of course, with an immortal being who has amnesia, you can’t just end this movie with a happy ending. As Hancock discovers the truth about who he is and where he’s from, you’ll discover how fun this movie is to watch. |
#23 – Iron Man
| Surprisingly good thanks to standout performances by Robert Downey Jr. and Terrance Howard, Iron Man always had the potential to be a Blockbuster. It just wasn’t clear whether it’d live up to the hype or fall into oblivion with the vast majority of sub-par comic inspired movies out there. One of the big dawgs of 2008, you can find a copy of the Two Disc Special Edition at Amazon for $22.99. |
#24 – WALL-E
You’ll fall in love, just like we did, over the holidays with this lovably sweet robot, WALL-E. Explore the humanization of this tiny robot with a lot of heart, as he searches for love with a sleek female robot named, Eve. One of the best movies of 2008, and best animated features by Disney/Pixar in a long time, this will make the ideal stocking stuffer for kids of any age. The special Three Disc Edition with digital copy is just $22.99. |
#25 – Sex and the City
| While this wasn’t one of the movies we enjoyed, we know many women loved the next adventures in the lives of their favorite New Yorkers. Joining Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte as they discuss men, love, sex and fun times in the city truly seems just like old times, for those who enjoyed the series. This time, Carrie is about to marry Mr. Big, and it’s about time, but the road to the alter is much bumpier than Carrie ever could have expected. The special edition of this Blockbuster is just $19.99. |
