It’s the holidays again. That means it is time to give you a list of the top items to buy this season. While you may not want to get everything on this list, there should be at least one thing on here to appease the DVD movie fan in your household.

Let’s start with the Top Five DVD Movie Comedies:

#1 – Mamma Mia!

In this musical turned movie, you’ve got all the elements of a great story. There are some fun song and dance numbers by formerly hot, pop group ABBA. The movie has the incredibly talented Meryl Streep, and she sings in it. There is also a really interesting “love” story that paints Meryl as quite the ho. This movie looks rockin’, so why not pick it up this holiday? It’s available at Amazon in a Two Disc Collector’s Edition for $22.99.

#2 – George Carlin: It’s Bad For Ya

One of the greatest comedians of all time was George Carlin. Crass yet brutally honest, Carlin always had something to say about politics, religion, and the state of the world. The way George presents his material is both offensive and hilarious. That’s a major part of his comedy. The Emmy Award winning Carlin hosts his last HBO Special (his 14th in total), which is from March of 2008, a few months before his untimely death. A Comedy Lover’s collection won’t be complete without a copy of George Carlin: It’s Bad For Ya in it. The DVD is available with some fun special features, through Amazon for $14.99.

#3 – Forgetting Sarah Marshall

It is indeed quite hard to forget Sarah Marshall. She’s popular, pretty and an actress played by Kristen Bell of Gossip Girl fame. You can’t help but sympathize with her talented, yet underrated, underappreciated boyfriend, Peter Bretter. In this girl breaks boy’s heart, boy tries to get over girl comedy the tables will be turned more than once as Peter tries desperately to forget his now ex-girlfriend, Sarah Marshall. This light, fluffy romantic comedy is served up in a Three Disc Unrated Edition, which is available through Amazon for $19.99.

#4 – Baby Mama

We have to admit this wasn’t one of our favorite movies this season, but then, we’re not the biggest fans of comedy. For what it is, Baby Mama is all that and then some. It’s hard not to like something with Tina Fey’s name attached to it. She works exceptionally well together with Amy Poehler, and this unexpected comedy has some moments you won’t see coming, even if you’ve seen this type of comedy before. If you’re looking for the laughs this holiday, pick up Baby Mama at Amazon for $$9.49.

#5 – Holiday Inn (3 Disc Collector’s Set)

It’s hard to say no to any Three Disc Collector’s Set for a famous, classic movie. Universal Studios recently released the Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire romantic comedy, Holiday Inn. Of course, it’s more romance than comedy as Bing Crosby plays Jim, a tired, New York entertainer, who wants nothing more than to move to a farm up north, and marry his sweetheart, Lila. When Lila rejects him and stays on with Fred Astaire’s Ted, who is also a part of Jim and Lila’s act, he goes to the farm anyway. With farming so difficult, it’s easy to appreciate Jim’s idea to turn the locale into an entertainment venue, the Holiday Inn. This delightful film is available at Amazon for $19.99.
