Songs in Ordinary Time TV Movie on DVD January 27 Based on the Best-Selling Novel by Mary McGarry Morris
Culver City, CA (November 19, 2008) The CBS television movie Songs in Ordinary Time, starring Academy Award®-winner Sissy Spacek (1980, Actress in a Leading Role, Coal Miners Daughter) and Beau Bridges (Stargate SG-1, The Fabulous Baker Boys), will be released on DVD January 27 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The compelling drama, based on the popular novel by best-selling author Mary McGarry Morris, will be available for $19.94 SRP.
Morris Songs in Ordinary Time enjoyed huge popularity as a book, selling 1.5 million copies. She is also the author of A Dangerous Woman, which was chosen as one of the Five Best Novels of the Year by Time magazine and was subsequently made into a motion picture.
Directed by Rod Holcomb (TVs ER) and written by Malcolm MacRury (teleplay), Songs in Ordinary Time centers around Marie Fermoyle (Spacek) a divorced mother of three children struggling to provide for her family in Vermont. Maries life is forever changed with the arrival of an enigmatic stranger named Omar Duvall (Bridges), to whom the Fermoyle family extends their hospitality. Marie quickly becomes an easy target for the smooth-talking Omar, who seduces her and her family with the promise of easy money and success. Eventually Marie uncovers his lies and discovers for the first time just how important she really is, both to her children and to her community. Songs in Ordinary Time premiered October 22, 2000 on CBS.
