Blizzard announces Wrath of the Lich King!

August 26, 2007 @ 2:36 pm

World of WarcraftWorld of Warcraft is an online game which explores in great detail the landscape and story involved in the Warcraft pc game series. With nine million subscribers and growing daily, this MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game) is one near and dear to this reviewer’s heart.

For fans of Blizzard Entertainment’s many strategy games, playing World of Warcraft is more than just a pastime; it’s homage to a long-standing legacy. Earlier in the year, millions of players braved the midnight rush to purchase World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, the very first WoW expansion. Mere weeks ago, a German rating group leaked information regarding new content called “Wrath of the Lich King.”

Having had the beans spilled and with nearly every player I’ve run into in the time since the leak came buzzing to find out more, Blizzard Entertainment soon came public with just enough information to sink the hook in their subscriber’s wallets.

The official word is out, Wrath of the Lich King is coming. In the second expansion for the popular game, Wrath takes players to the continent of Northrend to explore never before seen content and brave even more challenging quests and adventures.

As with The Burning Crusade, players who wish to take part of the new content will be required to purchase the expansion pack, however those who do not purchase this expansion will still be able to play on previous installations of the game. Some of the new features planned for Wrath of the Lich King are:

* First ever World of Warcraft Hero class (Death Knight)
* Level Cap increased to 80 (up from current level 70)
* New Profession – Inscription (allows you to strengthen your spells)
* Destructible buildings and epic siege weapons
* New Hairstyles and new dances

Even though Blizzard Entertainment was forced into exposing the new expansion’s existence, they’re keeping a tight lid on a great deal of the upcoming content. As the release date gets closer, avid fans will be hungrier and more eager for this new addition to their beloved game. My advice for those of us who are players is simple: Stop speculating about secrets we’ll find the answers for soon enough, and get back to playing the game! Speaking of playing the game, it’s time to get back to my warrior! FOR THE HORDE!!
